Up the canyon
East of Santa Fe along I-25 toward Pecos, Cañoncito and Glorieta climb into forested country. It's higher, shadier and snowier than town, with steeper drives, more pine and longer winters.
What mountain drives need
- Drainage for snowmelt — shaded drives melt slowly and refreeze; water needs a path off the surface.
- Plow-ready edges — tapered, compacted and supported.
- Asphalt on grades where gravel won't stay and chip seal may scuff.
- Thicker base where the ground stays wet into spring.
- Fall crack sealing before a long winter. See crack sealing.
Shorter season
At higher elevation, the paving season is shorter. We schedule these jobs in the warmest part of the year and recommend booking early.
What we do in Glorieta & Cañoncito
- New asphalt driveways and crusher-fine or gravel conversions
- Chip seal and long drives and private roads
- Drainage, culverts and grading
- Overlays, sealcoating and crack sealing
- Repairs and winter damage
- HOA and community roads and parking lots
Questions we hear
Is the season shorter up here?
Yes — plan for mid-summer paving and book early.
Is asphalt safe on a steep, shaded drive?
With good drainage it sheds meltwater well; keep traction sand handy on icy mornings.
Do you work off I-25 frontage roads?
Yes, on private property throughout the area.
