Questions we hear

What does a driveway cost in Santa Fe?

New asphalt often runs about $6–$10 per square foot including base; steep foothill drives more, chip seal less. See the Santa Fe cost guide.

Can you replace my crusher-fine driveway?

Yes — with asphalt, chip seal or a combination, reusing good material as base where possible.

Do you work in Las Campanas and other gated communities?

Yes. We coordinate access with the owner or manager and prepare submittals for design review.

How thick should a Santa Fe driveway be?

Most homes get 4–6 inches of compacted base and 2–3 inches of compacted asphalt; more for heavy vehicles or soft ground.

Will plows damage my driveway?

Weak edges get caught. We build tapered, compacted edges with shoulder support; plow shoes help too.

Why does my driveway ice in the same spot?

Water is crossing there — from a roof, slope or snow pile. Redirecting it fixes the ice.

Should I overlay or replace?

Overlay if the base is sound; repair or replace where there's alligator cracking, heaving or broken edges.

When should I sealcoat?

6–12 months after paving, then about every 2–3 years, on warm dry days.

When should I crack-seal?

Early fall, before freezes. Spring is a good second window.

Can neighbors share the cost of a private road?

Yes — we price by section or lot.

Do I need a permit?

Private driveway work usually doesn't. Work in a city or county right-of-way, or at a state highway, may. Historic districts and communities can have extra rules.

Do you work for property managers?

Yes, including photo updates for owners who are away.

Do you do commercial lots?

Yes — paving, repairs, sealcoating and striping.
